Overview
This module will assist teams in using the WATI assessment process to assess a student's need for assistive technology (AT) for reading. Teams can consider guiding questions to provide information about the Student, Environment(s) and Tasks, all around the task of reading and comprehending text. The module provides information about students with print disabilities and the provision of accessible educational materials (AEM).

- Describe the scope of the legislation that provides accessible educational materials to students with print disabilities.
- Identify the names or types of sources for accessible educational materials for students with identified print disabilities.
- Identify and describe the first three components of the WATI assessment process.
- Describe some of the questions or considerations the team needs to discuss when describing the student, environments, and tasks.
Judi Cumley
Judi Cumley is the former Assistive Technology Consultant for CESA 5 (Cooperative Educational Service Agency #5) in central Wisconsin. During her tenure, she was the CESA 5 WATI (Wisconsin Assistive Technology Initiative) AT consultant, author of the WATI ASNAT (Assessing Student's Needs for Assistive Technology) Reading Chapter and co-author of the WATI ASNAT Communication Chapter (www.wati.org). Judi loved teaching students in California, Nebraska and Wisconsin as a Special Education Teacher for over 20 years. She is now a proud grandmother of two adorable granddaughters and enjoying retirement.
